BINGO GAME USING HOT VERBS :DO/MAKE/TAKE /HAVE

SPOs:
The aim of this game is to enable students- through a very light game –recognize and use the verbs do-make –take have with a number of words that collocate with those verbs. Embedded aims are of course review and be exposed to a set of lexis.Besides this,to free students from the usual class context and its constraints through the funny and competitive aspects of the game and the being- in- charge themselves of their learning.
Material needed
You will need for the game :

PROCEDURE
Make sure students sit down in groups of 4 or 5 or 6 depending on the size of your class.Try to have mixed ability groups for the game to be highly competitive
Review with students the meaning of vocabulary you think is new or unclear using contexts or pictures or definition matching.
Give students 1st a set of words from the lexis sheet ( let’s say 10 words each group). You may let students pick the words while you hand them face-down.students quickly look at the words and try to discuss their meaning in closed groups.

Task:students match the verbs to the words(set a time-limit)
a leader of the group reads the found col********s to other groups to check for mistakes.You intervene only when students don t really know the answer.Make sure students write down the correct col********s on their notebook.
Tell students that they can exchange verbs either with other groups(only leaders are allowed to move from their seats,1 leader at a time)or with you(the teacher)but each single exchange is done with a 3 words cards from the lexis added along with the wanted verbs or word.
the winner is the group who managed to collocate all the words with the verbs suggested.
set a penalty of 3 words added in these cases:cheating-mistakes-talking with other groups or other ill-behaviour during the game.
I hope that your students will enjoy the game as mine did.I’ ve used this game again and again ,each time adding a variation .It has always been a great session for me and my students and my satisfaction with the game increased after setting a small quiz on these difficult hot verbs.If you have any suggestion or comment please let me know.
