Hi dear teachers of English, As far as GBT is concerned, I personally think that it's up to the teacher to decide whether to replace, add, supplement or keep the textbook as it is. That's to say, we should not go beyond the textbook for the sake of going beyond it, but there should be a reason and a need for that rising from the classroom context itself. I have a question related to the same topic; Don't you find the textbooks – especially Focus— too fragmented because of its short activities? How to deal with that? Thanks in advance, if you can present down-to-earth suggestions. |
Personally, I believe that the teacher is not supposed to rely just on the textbook. the latter is designed just to guide teachers and not to depend totally on it. Furthermore, the textbook, either Focus or Horizons, are not ample because of the level of Moroccan students. To illustrate this point, the level of students in Rabat is not the same compared with that of students in Benimilal, as an example. In this case, the teacher is supposed to find some other alternatives.
