i'd like to thank u for the issue you raised; it was very interesting to have pull out a shade on such a topic. but i 'd like to inform you that learning langage (s) doesn't stem from and can't be attributed to intellectual capacities or intelligence as u have mentioned for the simple reason is that the locus of ******** and intelligence in the brain is different; whereas langauge is in the frontal area in the zone of broca and intelligence is near thalamus a zone that is known in cognitive science and which has something to do with "reason". there is one important thing to stress here is that most people are born to speak a ******** and the case of those people who are said to be "dumb" is no exception. nobody has been reported to not have acquired ******** because of stupidity . ******** is not what we do, but rather is a system that is latent to the nature of our mind and which develops gradually because of many external factors like parents'monitoring or the street's back ups. i don't agree with u about the fact that those children who suffer from langauge difficency seem to be lacking intelligence attributes. science has proved on the basis of experimental research that even though apes can prefrom on some difficult tasks like human beings, thay have a limited capacity to use words . Intelligence and ******** are both necessary for the child development, but there is no direct relationship between the two. i conducted a research on the acquistion of ******** both from cognitive and linguistic perspective, i can say that intelligence has never been a problem for ******** impaired children. intelligence is surpassed by ]langauge. semhi 1999
